Temporary Anchorage Devices
Modern technology has made leaps and bounds when it comes to orthodontic treatment. Say goodbye to unsightly headgear thanks to minuscule (yet majorly effective) Temporary Anchorage Devices.
What are Temporary Anchorage Devices?
TADs (Temporary Anchorage Devices) are small titanium screws or mini-implants used as fixed anchor points in the mouth. They're like tiny supports that help move teeth more precisely and efficiently, especially in complex orthodontic cases.
Does getting a TAD hurt?
Getting a TAD shouldn’t hurt. Before we place a TAD, we will numb the area with local anesthesia, so you should only feel a slight pressure during the procedure.
After the anesthetic wears off, you may experience some slight discomfort for the first 24 hours, but this can easily be treated with over-the-counter pain relief. When you’re done with treatment, removal is simple and painless, and the site will heal up in just a few days!
